About the ArtistDon Huber was born in 1953 and grew up near the town of Hamler, Ohio. After graduating from high school he attended an art school in Pittsburgh, PA and later transferred to Cleveland Cooper School of Art. After working various jobs he ended up creating his own screen printing business in the town of Ottawa, Ohio where he now resides. Don's interest in Ohio State football began during childhood as he played in backyard football games with his brothers and neighborhood friends. His passion was then feuled by the "Woody Hayes era", along with his dislike for that team up north. In fact, Don has been asked many times to do a painting of Michigan fans but he refused... no matter how much they offered to pay him. Don is also a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan and he began illustrating pencil drawings of his favorite players. He attended golf outtings and other events, getting autographs from players and receiving a great response over his work. He then expanded his artistic direction and began painting players' portraits on footballs. His artwork gained a lot of attention and in 1993 he was asked to do an illustration to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 68' Buckeyes National Championship held at the In 1998 he completed his first painting of the "Buckeye Country Art" collection. "Under A Buckeye Moon", was an example of his love for the Buckeyes and the beautiful rural countryside that he grew up in. It became such a success that he continued the style and "Buckeye Country Art" was born. In 2004 Don was asked to paint the cover of the holiday cards to be used exclusively by the football staff at OSU. Two of the covers have now been turned into prints that can be purchased. "Stadium Nights", was the 2006 cover and is available as a canvas giclee'. "Seasons" was the 2010 holiday card and is also available for purchase as a canvas giclee'. Don continues to add new paintings to his growing collection every year. He has even expanded to produce his artwork on products like tapestry throws, coffee mugs, wood signs and many more items to come. He spends his time exploring his many artistic interests, cheering on the Buckeyes and dreaming up his next masterpiece. |
